CHINGFORD PLAIN

See above for site location and flying boundaries.

Flying times: all week between 10:30am to sunset.

Night flying is not allowed.

Filming
No airbourne photographic recording can be made at Chingford Plain. You may use a camera to navigate when flying FPV but not to record stills or video. This applies to all aircraft types.

Safety Officer
There must be a minimum of 2 members on site when flying. One should be a designated Safety Officer wearing a yellow hi-vis vest.

If the club appointed Safety Officer is not available another member must step in as an Acting Safety Officer wearing a similar hi-vis vest and, in the event of an incident, collect information including photos (if relevant) to pass on to the club committee.

Other rules
All standard rc flying rules apply, warning calls must be made for taking off, landing, dead-stick etc. This is for the safety of your fellow members and members of the public.

General etiquette
It is important that members recognise their responsibilities for maintaining good will with Epping Forest Conservators and other visitors to the Plain.

The site should be kept clean and tidy and all litter must be removed.

The information above is a very brief summary of our club’s site rules for Chingford Plain. All flyers should read our full site rules which can be accessed from the link below.

BANKS LANE

Banks Lane is a private field we rent near Epping. See above for site location and flying boundaries.

Mandatory requirement
Before flying at Banks Lane a call must be made to the control tower at North Weald to notify them that RC aircraft are flying at this site. The call only needs to be made once a day by the first flyer on site.
The control tower number is 01992 524740.

Flying times:
Monday - Friday: 'Open flying' between 10am and 4pm, 'Quiet Flying' from 4pm to dusk.

Saturday - Sunday: 'Quiet Flying' between 10am to dusk.
No flying on Bank holidays.

What is 'Open Flying' and 'Quiet Flying'?
During the 'Open Flying' period most aircraft can fly at Banks Lane with some exclusions like jets and certain types of multi rotors.

'Quiet Flying' is a category agreed with the landowner to ensure less noisy aircraft are flown after 4pm, e.g. no IC or ducted fan. Aircraft such as foamies and powered gliders would be likely to fall into this ‘quiet’ category. Whatever their type, aircraft should be flown more gently at this time.

Permitted flyers
This is a private site for CMFC members. Guests must be accompanied at all times by a member. A guest flyer may be allowed if the Club Safety Officer or Club Secretary is notified. A guest might also be someone who has applied to join the club.

FPV
You may use a camera for flying FPV and airborne video recording is allowed (within our flying boundaries) for personal use only. You must not intrude on our neighbours. If anyone else should be in the field respect their privacy and do not film them. Use of airborne video commercially is forbidden. If in doubt ask for guidance from the club committee.

Other rules
Members with a minimum ‘A certificate’ can fly solo. A Safety Officer is not required but it’s advised that members assist one another to be them aware of flying boundaries, potential hazards such as dog walkers or other people on-site.

In the event of an incident, members should take responsibility to collect information including photos if helpful to pass on to the club committee.

All standard warning calls must be made for taking off, landing, dead-stick etc. This is for the safety of your fellow members and members of the public.

General etiquette
We have access to the flying field only. We do not have access to private land adjacent to our site and cannot trespass there to retrieve lost aircraft.

The information above is a very brief summary of our club’s site rules for Banks Lane. Please read our full site rules which can be accessed from the link below.
